원형콘텐츠의 동화라는 매체는 쇼트스토리의 매체로 변용된다. 미국의 만화가이자 뛰어난 유머작가인 서버의 가장 유명한 쇼트스토리 중 하나로 삽화와 함께 매우 간략하면서도 강렬한 방식으로 다음과 같이 묘사되고 있다. “어느 오후 커다란 늑대 한 마리가 어두운 숲 속에서 할머니께 갖다드릴 음식바구니를 들고 오는 어린 소녀를 기다리고 있다. 마침내 정말로 그런 소녀가 다가왔다. 늑대는 소녀에게 할머니께 음식 바구니를 갖다 드리려고 하냐고 물었고 소녀는 그렇다고 대답했다. 그러자 늑대는 할머니가 어디에 사시는지를 묻고 대답을 들은 후 숲속으로 사라진다. 소녀가 할머니 집에 도착해 문을 열자 어떤 사람이 할머니 잠옷을 입고 침대에 누워있다. 소녀는 더도 덜도 말고 침대로부터 25피트 간격을 두고서 보았더니 그 사람은 할머니가 아니라 늑대였다. 아무리 늑대가 할머니 옷을 입고 있다 해도 할머니처럼 보일 수는 없다. 소녀는 바구니에서 권총을 꺼내 늑대를 쏴 죽인다. One afternoon a big wolf waited in a dark forest for a little girl to come along carrying a basket of food to her grandmother.
