Introduction |

In existing researches for databaseconstruction conducted for a total of three years of research period from September 2002– September 2006), the data related with modern literary works for 140 years were systematically collected and organized. The collected data included literature data for literary education research, such as laws (decrees) and regulations, declarations, curricula and textbooks, books and theses, editorials in newspapers and magazines, various surveys and statistical data, meeting data, recording and image data, teaching materials in schools and night schools, standardized evaluation data, foreign language translation data for education and introduction, and various dictionaries. In addition, this research not only collected and organized the data, but also interpreted it in historical research and educational perspectives in the social and cultural context of those times. In particular, this research tried to freshly discover the research-historical meaning of the data and make the historical value of the data complete through the syntactical approach that examines the collected data systematically from the modern times to the present. Based on such research results, this team conducted basic works for data computerization for the construction of a research infrastructure for literary education and other neighboring studies, and tried to suggest the policy direction of future literary education for Korean people.
