Introduction
The culinary manuscript in Joseon Dynasty era is the data worthy of vocabulary and grammar research as the historical data of a specific period and area from the viewpoint of Korean language. The culinary manuscript in Joseon Dynasty era is the data worthy of vocabulary and grammar research as the historical data of a specific period and area from the viewpoint of Korean language. Besides, the culinary manuscript has a very important value from the perspective of practical applicability and linkage with related sciences, such as food and nutrition, culinary arts, etc.

A study on “Development of an Integrated System to Retrieve Cuisine Terms through a Study on Culinary Books Written in Korean during the Joseon Dynasty Era” had been conducted for four years from 2007 to 2009 under the auspices of the National Research Foundation of Korea (formerly the Korea Research Foundation). The texts selected as the construction targets in that study cover a total of 28 kinds of data as culinary manuscripts in Korean during the Joseon Dynasty era written in the 17th century through the early 20th century. These data that show the aspect of modern Korean language were mostly written in cursive that no one but experts can easily understand, and they cover a total of 1,320 pages. This study constructed a DB for these data and developed a two-way retrieval system designed to meet various purposes for users (Korean linguists, culinary artists, citizens, etc.).

In order to efficiently store, maintain, and utilize these studies, this research constructed a DB for these data and developed a two-way retrieval system designed to meet various purposes for the users (Korean linguists, culinary artists, citizens, etc.) under the auspices of the National Research Foundation of Korea for six months from December 2011 to June 2012. Through the intuitive navigation and web searching machine, the prompt provision of information on various terminologies was made possible.
